Welcome to the May issue of our newsletter! Here are the latest EU climate news highlights.  

Last month was a time for stock-taking on climate action. The European Commission published reports on the operation of several pieces of EU climate legislation, while the EU Mission on Adaptation released a review of its activities to support regions across Europe on climate resilience. In tandem with the World Bank, the Commission also published three documents outlining how to smartly invest in disaster resilience in Europe. 

May saw the adoption of key EU electricity and gas market reforms, ensuring clean, secure, and stable energy supplies for European consumers and industry. Moreover, last month marked two years since the launch of the REPowerEU Plan, which has helped Europe significantly cut Russian energy imports, stabilise prices, and accelerate the clean energy transition. 

Finally, DG Climate Action took part in the EU Open Day on 4 May, inviting visitors to learn about EU climate policy and take action themselves – a good place to start is the European Climate Pact website!
